Bylaw Enforcement

Finance
The Finance Department is responsible for budgets, collections, and financial reporting. It issues tax notices, utility billings, invoices, and business licence renewals. Recreation Department
The Recreation Department manages the Comox Community Centre and is responsible for recreation programs for kids and adults of all ages.

Fire Department
The Comox Fire Department provides a variety of preventative and emergency services to the Town of Comox, the Comox Fire Protection Improvement District, the Bates/Huband Local Service Area and the Comox Indian Band.
These services include fire safety inspections and consultations, smoke alarm installation and testing, fire and burn safety education, firefighting, rescue, assessing and limiting exposure to hazardous material leaks and spills as well as first responder assistance to BC Ambulance Service and BC Forest Service.
The Comox Fire Department is staffed by three full-time and fourty paid-on-call employees. Their fleet includes two engines, one ladder truck, two rescue vehicles, one fireboat and one staff vehicle.

Parks Department
The Parks Department is responsible for keeping Comox beautiful, at least horticulturally. Playing fields, Parks and road allowances all fall under their jurisdiction.

The Planning Department is responsible for the Town’s Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaws and the processing of land development applications including development permits, development variance permits and subdivisions. Building oversees the issuing of building permits and assures compliance with the building codes, regulations and by-laws of both the Province and the Town of Comox.

Public Works
The Public Works Department look after the town infrastructure. This includes the water, sewer and drainage system and road surfaces for which the town is responsible.
