Early Pollinators Deployed

Sixteen mason bee boxes are returning to Comox Parks

Despite a chilly spring, our mason bees are waking up, so the Parks Department will be moving 16 mason bee stations (containing over 500 mason bees) into Comox Parks.

These small and non-aggressive bees are industrious – particularly in the early spring. This makes them one of the best pollinators of early flowering plants and trees. They are commonly used in orchards because of their efficient pollination of fruit trees. Mason bees will forage up to 90 metres (300 feet) from their nesting box.
