The Town of Comox recognizes the value in commemorating local events and/or efforts of not-for-profit organizations and milestones for local business organizations, individuals, and community groups within the Town. These are often recognized by proclamations or flag raisings that focus the attention of the community.

In late 2020 Council adopted two new policies, a Proclamation Policy and a Flag Raising & Flag Protocol Policy, to support and guide requests of this nature.
