Yesterday, Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) presented James “Stocky” Edwards with a cairn dedication at the Lazo Marsh for his commitment to wetland conservation.

To mark his 100th birthday in June 2021, Stocky partnered with Ducks Unlimited Canada to raise $100,000 for wetland and wildlife conservation. Thanks to generous supporters and community partnerships, the Stocky Edwards Wetland and Wildlife Conservation Fund exceeded its goal, raising an incredible $128,000 for critical wetland conservation and restoration work in Canada.

“What Stocky has done for wetland conservation in the Comox Valley and throughout Canada is incredibly important,” says Comox Mayor Russ Arnott. “Stocky exemplifies the true meaning of a conservationist and we can’t thank him enough for his support and promotion for such a wonderful program.”

On a related note, the Town of Comox would like to congratulate Stocky and his wife Toni as they recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary!
