Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for East Vancouver Island, including the Comox Valley, with daytime temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius for several days and overnight lows of 18 -19 degrees.
- Stay in or visit air-conditioned spaces
- Rest in a cool room or space room of your residence
- Swim or wade in a body of water, or take cold baths/showers
- Drink plenty of water
- Keep windows and blinds closed during the day to keep out hot air, and open at night to let in cool air.
Businesses interested in opening as a cooling space can download a poster to encourage residents to beat the heat. This is a completely voluntary option to Comox Valley businesses, but we thank the business community for your support!
Cooling places for the Town include the following:
- Comox Community Centre (regular hours) - misting tent and sprinkler located in the field available from 1 - 5 pm
- Comox Rotary Splash Park
- Comox Fire Hall
