The first poppy goes to the Governor General, followed in rank by the provincial Lieutenant Governors and so on to local mayors. Today (Thursday, October 27, 2022) the Comox Legion Branch #160 presented the first poppy to Mayor-Elect Nicole Minions. Starting on the last Friday of the month and until November 11, Canadians wear a poppy to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we have today.
