Comox Town Hall, the Community Centre, and Public Works will be closed Monday, September 19, 2022, to recognize the National Day of Mourning as Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral takes place in London, U.K. 

There will be no impact to curbside collection service as the Comox Waste Management Centre remains open.



All programs, bookings and service amenities, including the Fitness Studio, at the Comox Community Centre will be closed or cancelled on September 19, 2022. Staff will send out electronic notification to participants in registered programs and activities and issue a credit onto their account for missed classes. All Town’s operations will return to regular hours on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. 

Condolences can be made through the Government of Canada website or through the Government of British Columbia’s website

Citizens can also extend their condolences privately by sending an email or letter to the Department of Canadian Heritage.

The period of mourning is from the day of the Queen’s death until sunset on September 19, 2022. A national commemorative ceremony will be held in Ottawa at Christ Church Cathedral on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. (Pacific Time). The ceremony will be broadcast live on digital media platforms, so that all Canadians can participate.
